The National Center for the Study of Corporal Punishment and Alternatives (NCSCPA) is a research organization based at the Temple University College of Education in Philadelphia, PA and headed by Dr. Irwin Hyman. The center serves a number of functions. It contains an exclusive collection of research and is also the base of operations for ongoing research projects. Furthermore, it provides a helpline for advice on various disciplinary issues. Anyone may call the helpline for suggestions on dealing with normal disciplinary problems, such as fighting, temper tantrums, and refusal to do homework.
